Armada Technical Authors
History
Armada Technical Authors began in 1991 when the company was founded by Nigel Platts and Steven Smith. At the time, they worked together as Technical Authors in the Technical Publications team at McDonnell Douglas, now part of the Boeing Company. They started by buying a single computer on a credit card. From their homes, they worked shifts; one using the computer during the daytime, one at night time.
As the business grew they rented, then bought office premises. They also recruited and trained their own technical authors, who are now some of the best in the industry.

Armada's staff
Nigel Platts and Steven Smith are still very much active in the business. They each have over 30 years’ experience as technical authors. They bring a wealth of knowledge to each project they work on.
Our most senior member of staff is David Rose. David has worked for Armada for over 20 years. He is a graduate of Aberystwyth University. David is also an Adobe Certified Expert in RoboHelp and an Adobe Certified Instructor.
As we are also a training company, our technical authors receive great formal training in the use of technical writing software.
Armada's offices
Armada Technical Authors main office is in Bromsgrove, south of Birmingham. We also have offices in Milton Keynes and in Reading.
Some of our technical authors are permanently based at client sites. Others work from their home-offices.
